Policies
Immunization Policy
The Acorn School follows the laws of the state of South Carolina. Health forms are mandatory except for those families who have a valid religious exemption document. We have a medical doctor on our Board of Trustees who is available to discuss this important question with families.
Non-Discrimination Policy
The Acorn School of Charleston does not discriminate on the basis of gender, race, color, religion, sexual orientation or national and ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admissions, hiring, scholarship or other school-administered programs.
Special Needs Policy
The Acorn School has limited resources for meeting specialized needs. Our staff does not have extensive training in working with children with learning disabilities or emotional or behavioral disorders. In that our resources for supporting special needs are limited that, in turn, limits the range of needs that we can meet and the number of children with special needs we can effectively teach. The Acorn School must insure that efforts to serve particular students do not impose undue hardship on teachers or detract from other students’ opportunities to learn.
If you have any questions about your child’s being in our program please feel free to reach out to us. The decision to accept children with special needs is made on a case by case basis.
